The Black Hole - A Trap for Ryze NewbiesViews: 190

John Stephen Veitch
I've taken the time to visit over 100 pages for new Ryze members in the last week. It's surprising to me that fewer than 10% of new members were invited to join Ryze by a friend. This means that +90% of new members enter Ryze with no friends and as members of no groups. They are in a black hole.

The rules of Ryze say you can communicate with people who share a network with you, and with friends and with the friends of friends.

So for most newbies that means Zero plus Zero. The black hole.

Release from "the black hole" is simple. Join some networks. But how do newbies understand that? So many are in zero networks, or one network which is almost as bad.

The Ryze RULE, that people can connect to people who are members of the same network is a FREE PASS, to people who are not paying Ryze members. Sadly it's a free pass that isn't understood and is seldom used.

The other little tip people need to learn, is to make their email address available to people they have met on Ryze who they "know". This is a much better "network with me signal" than the silly Network with me button. To do this, check the email box on the Ryze Homepage of the person concerned, and "update permissions". It's a simple thing to do but hardly anybody does it.

Once email addresses are shared, it's easy to make "friends" on Ryze. That's the other, much harder route, out of the "black hole".

Please. Make the effort to visit the pages of NEW Ryze members, and direct them to this post. If you come across Ryze Members who are not active, the reason is almost certainly not joining enough networks. Invite them to read this post too.

I did some research on Ryze 4 years ago. People who joined more than 20 networks usually thrived on Ryze. They had lots of homepage visits and active guestbooks. Those who joined fewer than 10 networks were usually completely inactive within a few months.
