I think it is sometimes necessary to point out the obvious - because the obvious is often overlooked when it comes to business networking via Ryze. Whether you meet folks on Ryze, LinkedIn, MerchantCircle, Facebook or Twitter, there is no hard-and-fast rule that says you must do all your networking through the forum where you first met. Just because you meet someone on Ryze does not mean you cannot follow-up via regular email or even Skype. In fact, I think it is better if you CONNECT as directly as possible in a one-to-one relationship. I don't think the phone call will ever go out-of-style. I don't think the face-to-face meeting will ever go out-of-style, either.
The magic you need to happen happens when you CONNECT CARING PEOPLE. That's where the rubber meets the road, folks. Thanks to today's technology, those CARING PEOPLE no longer have to be physical next-door neighbors. They can be at opposite ends of the Earth.
Statistics tell us that today more people on this planet use cell phones than use computers. In fact, the ratio is 3:1 in favor of the cell phone. Mobile communication is transforming the way The Internet can be utilized. If you are not even familiar with "social location gaming," I encourage you to get acquainted with Foursquare, Gowalla and Booyah. These services are demonstrating how the collective intellignece of a community can actually energize itself and have fun in the process. It is truly amazing. Rather than watch it happen from the sidelines, why not engage in the process and repeat some benefits for your business?
