Australia Could Become A "New China".Views: 546

I see a very different Australia today to the one I grew up in so to speak. Multi-Culturalism has certainly benefited Australia in many ways, a wonderful choice of food and tanks to te Vietnamese fresh bread seven days a week. Newcomers wouldn't fully appreciate the fantastic difference in our roads now. In so many ways we have become a very affluent society and have arguably taken a place of leadership on the world stage.

Like a puppy dog we have followed the USA. This following has advantages and disadvantages, but I think the trend will continue whatever we say. In my younger days I was a staunch royalist, but that has changed. Nevertheless it is a strong component of our cultural heritage as well, but where do you think Australia is really heading?

I see Australia as an important part of Asia and it's easy to see how the Chinese presence in Australia is blossoming. I think Australia could become a "New China". That may sound a bit frightening at first, but I have got rather used to the idea, and think that there is a lot of merit in it.

I would welcome your response to the prospect of Australia as a "New China". What is the key that will open this opportunity of linking up with an emerging superpower? What form will this new alliance take, and how probable do you regard its fruition?

Hello Denis

It's inevitable that Australia will become more Asian and less European. I expect that Australia will also become a little poorer as the USA declines in importance.

I'd imagine however that as India, China and Malaysia come out of the current depression, beginning perhaps in three years time that Australia's mineral wealth will once again see a return to relatively good times.

India might be the real hiding hand in the future of Australia, if only because the education system there is producing so many young people with quite good English skills. I spent a day with one such young man (A Ryze member) last month. He's been in NZ only six months. He has been educated in English, but he said that until he arrived here he had never needed to speak it intensively.

I found his conversation quite understandable, although he struggled to find the right work occasionally.

In New Zealand we are finding that the presence here of nationals from other countries is helping to build our tourism markets and to build international trade both ways.

The collapse of the financial system demonstrates that we all depend on each other. The idea that "we" can hide behind a national barrier and exclude the problems of the world is unreal. So like it or not, the Internet, international trade, the movement of people across the world, the environmental and resource problems we face, all push us in the same direction.

These problems need to be solved or resource wars will explode around us. Those of us in "rich" countries will feel a lot less rich, I guess. Those who have been poor will hopefully find ways to develop by trade, because the rich world makes that possible. (Yes that is part of what makes us poorer. Do you prefer war? People need to feel that progress is possible.)

Australia's key problem as I see it, is the lack of development in Indonesia. The best solution is to help the people of Indonesia to be much richer than they are. It's a good bargain. Much preferable than having to learn the new National language of Australia in a Muslim school.

Since Uncle Sam won't be about to help us out in a fix, we need to be seen as a friends and allies towards Asia, and not part of the problem.

Indonesia and Malaysia are not even in the running of attaining Super Power status, but China and India certainly are. These are two of three significant Asian countries we need to factor in to our future development as a nation.

As for the spectre of Australians learning Indonesian in Islamic schools, that could only happen as a result of Australian political incompetence, but if there is anything at all left of the true spirit of Australia, such a move would be aborted, even by military intervention. Yes, they call it a 'coup'.

Nevertheless, I agree that Australia should continue to help the Indonesians attain a much better standard of living. This Christian charity to the Indonesian people would be lovely to see.

In the region in which I presently live, we have a very large Indian population. I love Chinese food, but I have to say, I love Indian food as nuch and sometimes more.

I speak as a Nationalist, and I know that in the world of today, Nationalism is on the way out. Sadly nation states have become 'states' in the global scheme of things, and it is well within the power and scope of the ANONYMOUS Global Leadership to play the nation game any way they like. To my knowledge, there are only a few countries that have taken a strong stand against this global manipulation, and Australia is not one of them, and neither is New Zealand.
What about China?

Frankly I am not sure. Let's leave it at that for the time being. What about Russia? The questions continue.
