Some of the Sticky Posts above contain basic instructions, things you should know. Usually things you shouldn't need to be told twice.

Completing your first Ryze Page.
Having an open Guest Book.
Joining MANY networks.
Visit the home pages of other people, take notes, leave guest book entries.
READ the discussions in the networks.
FOLLOW up on WHO the people are in those discussions.
See how long they have been members for, how many page hits they have, how active their guest book is. Find some people you "like" and tell them, WHY.

Essentially if you do nothing, NOTHING.

If you DO something, you learn things and eventually that learning becomes KNOWLEDGE.
It's simple and easy to be successful on Ryze.

The three biggest mistakes on RYZE are these.
Making your Ryze page 100% an advertisement.
Joining one or zero networks.
Sitting waiting for something to happen.

When you visited a hundred or so Ryze pages you'll find far too many people have done all three of the above errors.

I've already explained what you need to do. There's one further tip for you. Find a MENTOR, on this network or anywhere on Ryze, find someone you like, who's been here 3+ years, who has over 1000 Ryze Homepage hits, who has over 150 Guest Book entries, and who contributes regularly to Ryze discussions. Ask that person to help you.

On Social Networking Newbies, we are asking potential mentors to advertise their availability. That should make it easier for you. With the help of a mentor you'll learn in a month to six weeks, what will otherwise take you a year or more if you are active. (Most people who come to Ryze NEVER learn these skills and understandings. The basic work listed above isn't done. Their account lies dormant, unused. )

Being successful on Ryze or any other social network is like growing a garden. First of all you dig, and that's hard work. Then you do a lot of planting, and when you've finished you still can't see much. Then you care for the plants that appear, water the garden. Remove the weeds. The product of your effort comes after the work.
