John Stephen Veitch
There are at least 160 members of this network who have less than 100 Ryze Homepage hits.

We also have some members who have been on Ryze for many years but have never really got established.

I invite both those groups to JOIN the November Newbies group.
This invitation closes on 7th December. Volunteers only.

To apply simply reply to this post, saying "count me in".

I'll then visit your Ryze page and see where you are heading and try to offer some help, sometimes personal help, but mostly help for the group via network posts.

****************
Why?

I conclude from the failure of 65% of the members of the October Newbies group to put anything in the white space on their pages, that many people who've had the courage to join Social Networking Newbies, are not yet READY to tell the world who you are; not ready to be visible online.

I do understand that.

So you need time. Take time. But don't disappear, keep reading the posts in your networks. LEARN.

There will be opportunity to join a new group every month. When you are ready, we'll try to help you.

************

I'm also doing this to help me. Last month with 42 people I spent about 20 hours looking at Ryze Homepages, writing notes of encouragement, trying to help people. Only 14 people were responsive to that. For the rest I spent more time on their pages than they did. That's not good use of my time.

If you join I expect you to work. If you have no intention of working, don't volunteer.

Hi John

I really admire what you are trying to do and I wish I had more time to help you.

What I have found in helping my 1000s plus down-line members is that; you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink.

No matter how much you try to teach people and help; most people will not take action or will only act in their own time.

I now only help those who help them-self and as the internet has a real time delay many of these people also give up.

Most people also don't have much time to be online and they can also be easily distracted by promises of quick wealth.

John keep up the good work but do not get dispirited by results as they are what is to be expected.

So there are only FOUR of us.

That's OK.
Walter: I want you to join some more networks, expand yourself.

Gillian and Walter: I want to help you get those photos under control. You need to create a table, and to put the images and caption into the table. If you know how to do that, give it a go. If not, drop me a PM and I'll help you out.

Melissa and Ayako: I want the story on your homepage to develop a little.

Ayako: Is English a problem for you? (It doesn't appear so from the text you've written.)

This post is your homework for the present.

I've noticed Gillian has been active, her name appearing to two guest books I've seen in the last week. She's also added about 20 homepage hits since the beginning of the month, so she must be doing something right.

I notice that Gillian is inviting people to follow her on Twitter too. Very sensible, if you are using Twitter.

T.E.A.M. Mom!
Hi John, this is a great idea, I wish you luck with it and hope that the newbies will join in :) Really sad that members are not taking advantage of all your knowledge that you have compiled, I know I have thru the years. I have been sharing your blog for as long as I can remember.

Yes, twitter and facebook are the rage of late (sorry myspace) and it is a good idea to connect with others from ryze there too. I have an account for all my ryze and other group friends to connect with me and it has been fantastic!

If you would like to connect with me on FB you will find me here http://www.facebook.com/TeamMom09 I'm also a volunteer for the WBO (Women Business Owners, formerly on ryze) http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6337124347

FYI -> Just wanted to mention that Gillian did not give her Twitter ID, which is actually @follopia or http://twitter.com/follopia for those who may want to follow her directly.

I am also on twitter at @TeamMom or http://twitter.com/TeamMom and I post on both business - family/parenting type topics and I RT often. For those who would like to learn more about Twitter check my thread out here

I asked you previously to sort through you networks and to find some active networks that gave you useful information.

So Tell us about ONE network you've found where something interesting is going on.

Network Name.
Network Leader.
A topic you found interesting or useful.
The names of people there who you now recognise.

Post to this thread.
http://www.ryze.com/posttopic.php?topicid=1048883&confid=3530

Shouldn't take more than a day of two.

John

Dec 17, 2009 7:23 amFind the BEST Ryze Homepage.#

John Stephen Veitch
In the next week I want you to visit at least 30 Ryze Homepages. The best way to do this is to go to your ten networks and choose 3 people from each network as examples.

I suggest you choose people who have written posts so you are not choosing newbies. Frequent posters would be even better.

So presumably in about 20 minutes you've opened 30 tabs.
Eliminate anyone with an unreadable Ryze page. Eliminate anyone who hasn't completed a Ryze page. That will take 5 minutes. I expect you've got about 15 pages left.

By now you've got a feel for what you've got. Reduce the number to 10.

Choose a top five and a bottom five.
All these pages are OK. When you choose a top five page, what's different about those pages.

For the bottom five, why are they not quite as good?

Does that teach you anything about improving your own page?

I'll ask you to NAME the Top TWO of the pages you've selected, in about a week. Write down the names of your top ten in case you need them again.

Gillian Linge
Hi,John
I will find it difficult to put my networking list in order,
The reason is because, those I am networking with have given me great advise and tips and helped me enormously along my way, I am now taking marketing lessons and the others chip in to help. I have contacted a few newbies and given support and had little response except for a couple of great guys.
I haven't a clue how to organise my photo's so help would be nice.
and finally I would be lost without Joke a day to keep me sane (or insane as some would have!) That daily chuckle, keeps me going. The members are funny and bright!
Before I go surfing for many others and I am sure that there are some fantastic people, My relationship building is paramount at the moment. I like the people I am networking with and am enjoying the banter and information I am receiving.

Jan 04, 2010 2:32 amEvaluating our Work in December#

John Stephen Veitch
DECEMBER, did anyone remember how busy it was going to be without having something extra to do?

The four people in this group all made good progress, never the less. Walter has been recovering from an operation. I got lost in the rush from about mid-December on.

I tried to help people to put their pictures into a table on their Ryze pages. Despite my efforts, none of you have managed to get that done. Not sure what's wrong here?

Homepage hits: Everyone made good progress; Gillian outstanding (47), Ayako quite active (32), and Melissa and Walter doing the best they have for many months (24) and (19).

Melissa, Walter and Ayako added to the number of networks they are subscribed too.

I'm slightly disappointed in the number of guest book entries each of you got. I'm not sure why these are down on what I'd expect. Perhaps I need to set an example by making more guest book entries myself.

FRIENDS: None of you added to your friends during the month. The first key there is to make your email address available to other people who you know about on Ryze. People who's posts you have read and admired. People who's guest books you've made entries in.

Secondly, when you visit a Ryze page and you see the email address is offered, use that to make a friend request if that seems the right thing to do.

Thirdly, something interesting has happened here since I asked people to send me invitations to be their friend on Ryze. I have about 20 requests from people who have done exactly nothing. No work on their home pages, very few networks joined, no posts, no guest book entries, on increase in their own home page hits. I remain happy to offer friendship, but you need to DO something.

On the other hand several people who have been very active, who I know well and who I'd be very happy to invite as my friend are still hiding. I can't YET see your email address. But you can see mine. I am open to that invitation.

We'll continue to do some work, the four of us for a little while longer.
