This is so clever, so simple, I cannot believe that it is real.  I will likely be the first in my entire county to own a Poken.  Where I live cell phone service is considered a relatively new technological innovation.  Believe it or not, a great many folks are still on dial-up for Internet access.  I feel very grateful to be among "the chosen" who have cable.

If you are not familiar with Poken, check this out - Poken Explained from Poken on Vimeo.

I've never seen a Poken in New Zealand Lamar.

I have given hundreds of people cards and written references to online things they should be aware of.

What do they do NOTHING, they say "yes" and remain inactive as they were before. Despite all the hype about social media, research I did in July 2009 tells me a great deal about the real facts.

Of 100 people
3 in Linkedin.
3 in Twitter
0 in Ryze.
0 in Xing

Those are the main business networks

39 on Facebook
12 on Beebo
7 on Old Friends
6 on My Space

Here's my data and some comment.
http://www.ate.co.nz/socialnetworks2.html

The Facebook users had zero interest in Facebook for business purposes. That was the ONLY network people people went to daily. Half the Facebook users said they did that.

Only 14 people were in Facebook plus one or more other network. Only one person in three networks.

So it's far too early for people to exchange their information with a tool like Poken. Most people have got nothing to exchange. Regarding online social networking we're still dragging a sled, the wheel hasn't been invented yet. It's early days.

John,

What social media is accomplishing is amazing. It is transforming the way the world works. Want proof? Check out this video my friend, Teddy Towncrier, sent to me - Social Media in Our World. There is so much meat in that video, I simply could not stand to watch it at its normal speed. I had to slow it down to slide-by-slide viewing. To me, the video was that good.

I believe the technology behind Poken is going to change the way people interact in face-to-face meetings. And, why is that? Because it simply makes too much sense not to be done. It is a logical approach to maximizing one's time in a business networking setting.

Did you watch the video? If not, visit my Squidoo lens and scroll down to the bottom of the page where you see the Vimeo video.
