If you own an iPhone, Blackberry, Android or Palm Pre cell phone, chances are you can download cell phone apps to your device. Chances are also that one of those apps is downloadable for free and called "Foursquare." If that happens to be the case, download it to your phone and start using it whenever you go out to eat.

Social Media is changing the way the world works. Part of that change involves wikinomics and the cost-effective way crowd sourcing can benefit a small business. And, the best way to attract a crowd is NOT to do all the work yourself, but to design a situation that has other people doing the work for you. And, why would others bother to do something that would benefit you? Because before YOU receive a benefit, THEY receive a benefit. What is actually happening here is you are putting the needs of others ahead of your own; others gladly receive the benefit and end up blessing you in the process.

Perhaps that sounds a little corny; but, it works. It's not even a new idea. Pagans call it the "ethics of reciprociity." Christians call it "The Golden Rule." But, to fans of Social Media, it's called "Social Location Gaming."

This concept is so hot, news networks are reporting on it. Want proof? Take a look at this ABC News clip.

I helped a little Thai restaurant promote itself using Foursquare and in the process increased its standing on Google's search engine. Want proof? Do a Google search on "Ting's Thai Kitchen Foursquare" and see what pops up at the top of Page 1.
