Igor Kuznetsov
Hi All,

I would appreciate that you could give me some critics on the summary for my CV stated below. In fact I guess it is too long and I can move some points of it to my skills sections of the CV, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I am grateful in advance to anyone who will be able to express their opinion on in and I also hope it will be interesting for you to read it. Going next...

The Summary.

I am a 26-year-old professional with a considerable knowledge and experience in IT, internet projects, software development, cellular and telecommunications. I started my IT career after graduating university, major in System Analysis, in the Implementation Department of CBOSS Association, the leading Russian BSS/OSS developing company, as a specialist in Web products implementation.

Rapidly and deeply expanding my professional interests to a line of VAS, Web and IN products, internal and international (PMBOK) projects management methodologies; I gained strong experience in international projects for cellular and telecom companies. I was responsible for implementation and VAS-projects management for several customers in Senegal, Niger, Singapore, Argentina, Armenia and Russia. The areas of my activities included working in international project teams for presale projects, delivery of turnkey prepaid, postpaid and convergent solutions for GSM/CDMA/PSTN/INET network operators, integration with third-party vendors of content systems, payment and bank systems as for managing the local support team for a startup operator in Azerbaijan (2 million subscribers).

Continuously succeeding with excellent feedbacks for my job from customers, line and project managers I shifted my professional pursuits to organizational work, analytics and consulting support in implementation projects transferring to the position of Lead Business Consultant in CBOSS. I was involved in the highest-priority turnkey implementation project for a startup cellular operator in South-East Asia (over 5 million subscribers). I was given a responsibility for business analysis, IT-solutions design, products change and development management, discussion and endorsement of project documentation. Design of schemes and diagrams for the whole convergent BSS/OSS/VAS/IN/WEB/CC solution (over 60 products, over 200 servers) integrated with other network and service vendors was also successfully imposed on my scope of responsibility.

Later on I was offered a line managing position of Head of Web Products Implementation in CBOSS, taking a responsibility for leading a sector of Internet solutions implementation in a company: managing resources and risks, solving conflicts, planning projects and works. Significant achievements in these activities and in leading a number of internal projects for optimization and design of company management technologies allowed me to achieve the highest value of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) among all employees and leaders of Implementation Department at CBOSS.

My first priorities have always been comprised of applying and developing my professional management and analytical skills, high efficiency of work, self-perfection, professional and career development.

Igor,

If what you shared is your resume', I suggest you lay it out a little differently. Your information is impresive. What's not impressive is how you have presented it. While it is important that you have your information in chronological order, it's even more important that the information is easily and quickly grasped. Here's a little outline for your consideration:

I) Self-description. Who are you and where are you located?

II) Education. Schools, degrees, honors, etc. in chronological order.

III) Work history. Employers, employer contact information, job responsibilities. All must be in chronological order.

IV) Endorsers. Who can vouch for your competence and expertise? Be sure to include their contact information.

Dear Lamar,

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your attention and the time you spent on reading that stuff.
Well, actually it's not the whole resume, it's just a summary. I expected that it is too long and unstructured. So I guess I should follow your advice and put some info from it to other sections with education, work history and professional skills, that my resume already has. I guess I really need to make it more structured.
And thanks for the idea about the endorsers! I didn't think of it. This may be useful.

Best regards,
Igor.

Igor,

Here's another thought for your consideration. Everybody appreciates cleverness. For example, is it any surprise those silly Apple computer commercials are so popular? One commercial sells products by making fun of its competition. No doubt, Microsoft enjoys the commercials as much as we do. After all, they have cross-licensing agreements with Apple. Microsoft actually makes money from the sale of Apple iMacs. Yes, cleverness matters.

The next time you decide to send out resumes, don't send them in standard #10 envelopes with a cover letter like everyone else. Send them in a gold-leaf invitation envelope. Surprise your prospective employer. That way, you are more likely to be remembered than your sea of competition.

Also, consider creating a Squidoo lens for yourself that features letters of endorsement from people who acknowledge your expertise. That way, you can simply put a link into your resume without having to include their letters. Want to see an example of what I am talking about? Visit my site - www.squidoo.com/LamarMorgan.

Good luck.

Why stop there?
Courier the resumes.
99% of all resumes arrive via postal mail.
One arriving by courier will stand out from the crowd.

Reg,

Sending a resume' by courier is extremely clever. That sends a very strong message - even before the resume' is seen. I wonder if it would really be the "something extra" that results in an actual hiring. I wonder if anyone has any stats on that sort of thing?

Hi Igor,

I tried the fancy envelopes, the couriers send it towards end of closing date so it will be on top etc, etc. Never got me an interview.
WHAT DID WORK? Lots of resumes with photo in top corner and box it up into kind of bullet type point info. Your resume is a bit upside down.

Ian,

Put your resume in a box and include your photo. Great idea!

How long did it take you to find the job you wanted with that strategy? That just might be a great way to sell just about any product to a company - not just an effective way to send a resume'.

Hey I think you're onto something; we all like to put a face to a name and not just deal with a figure in the dark that we feel detached from.

Hi Lamar,

Generally about a month for the job I want with the right pay. It is very hard to find a company with the same thinking & staff personalities where everyone gets on.
I have been at this company for 4 years now.

The company (Chempower Aust) I currently work for does two things in the interview process that I haven’t seen before but works extremely well.
1 The second interview is with the staff. 2 Other than getting on with the staff you need to show them want you can bring that nobody else has & how it will help. This is usually done at a restaurant lunch.

Cheers,

Ian
