John Stephen Veitch
The news about the fate of our Social Networking Newbies, is good going on excellent. I'm taking about the 40 people who first joined this network as newbies when I changed the name and the purpose of this network FOUR weeks ago.

Of those people SIX are making excellent progress.

Thirteen others have visited Ryze in the last week, but they all have work to do to establish themselves here. What do I mean by "work"?

4 of them still have "white space" where there should be some statement about who you are, and what you want to achieve on Ryze.

3 of them are only in one network, SNN obviously. My campaign to get people to join MANY networks is working. For this group the median number of networks joined is FOUR, and SIX people have joined 20 or more.

Home page hits, if we exclude Elaine Marie (134 hits), range from 9 to 89. The median is SEVENTEEN. (This is an unfair number for some who've only been here for 10 days.)

Think in terms of one home page hit per day on Ryze. 30 a month. The most recent ten members to join the groups have been here are all doing OK. (days) Hits; (10) 9; (10) 9; (10) 15; (10) 26; (11) 25; (11) 13; (11) 15; (11) 11; (12) 27; (12) 14.

You can see that already three of the newest members have more homepage hits than the median for the group. It's probable also that new members joining group now have far more resources to use. It's obvious both from the posts to this network and from the messages in my own guest book that something good is happening here.

What do you DO, to get people to visit your own Ryze page?

Make Ryze part of your day. EVERYDAY.
Pay a visit and use the email notifications, or just visit your networks and read some of the new posts. (Yes some of the networks have very few posts, one or two might be dead, but still valuable because the connection to like minded people remains.)
Follow up by visiting the Ryze pages of people who have written to networks. If appropriate leave a guest book message.
When you've been here a while, start writing to networks yourself. In the beginning asking questions is a good idea.

I used to pace myself making sure I wrote in 2 guest books every day. That might have meant visiting 5-6 Ryze Homepages. Sometimes, make your email available to people whose views you've found helpful. (Information Permissions, at the top of each Ryze page.)

Slowly, your KNOWLEDGE grows. You learn about the topics people write about, your world expands. You learn about the people who are Ryze members, and your useable network grows.

Some people will respond to the email display, when they visit your Ryze page, by asking you to be a FRIEND.

So that's the WORK you should be doing.

************

20 people on our group have not visited Ryze at all in the last 7 days. 4 of those people have joined many networks, but clearly they are not doing any reading. No reading, no advantage.

So I'm about to post this item, and then send those 20 people a personal message, to read this post. I want as few people as possible to fall off the programme at SNN.

Everybody can be successful on Ryze. There are some simple things you need to do. They do take a little time, but they are not hard to do. Everyone can.

You know the often quoted 80/20 rule. Regarding Ryze that would mean that 20% of the members get 80% of all the attention.

My own numbers for Ryze (three years old now) were actually even more startling. 5% of the members generated 50% of all Ryze traffic. The next 10% took almost all of the rest. 60% of Ryze members generated practically no traffic at all. They didn't do the "work" I speak about above.

NOW YOU KNOW
You know exactly why this network exists. You know what it is, that I want to change about Ryze. I want to change the participation rate.

There is nothing spectacular or special about what the top 15% of Ryze members do. I talked about it above.

If you put in the time, you become good at reading, and good at writing, and you develop a lot of contacts, and your knowledge about all sorts of things will grow.

If you look at what the top 5% of people on Ryze have achieved, you'll find some remarkable people. (Some of them are members here.) When they began 7-8 years ago they were just like you.

They had the courage to lead the way. Do you have the courage to follow their trail?
